“In responding to places and ideas, my dialogue with colour, surface, texture and test enable me to wander beyond the visible and deal with memory, conversation and life.  Work usually begins with an observational drawing, but then in making a painting the landscape, seascape and still life become more intertwined and more concerned with the inherent qualities of paint as a material.  My current work explores the place where water and land meet, boundaries of marsh, estuary and shore.  Cornwall is my main inspiration where colour and space of coast seem to lend themselves to a more experimental use of colour.”
