The figure is usually
the main aspect in any one painting, surrounded by their
own
particular narrative. I
rarely use models because for me the ‘goal’ of creating
a
painting goes beyond the physical image of a model and is
strongly influenced by
thought and imagination. I am constantly exploring what can be achieved.
A review by The
Scotsman’s art critic
the late W. Gordon Smith described
the work as a cross between the painters John Byrne and
Stanley Spencer
but with an interesting ‘bite’. |
